My cousin Tim gave me these fantastic picture of everyone flying kites up at my parents for Easter. I had to share....
In between rain storms the kids would run out with new kites from Nana.
Thanks Tim for the great pictures and thanks you to all the family that was more willing to sit out and the cold with the kids than I was!

Easter at the Freed House
With every year Easter has been getting more and more fun with the kids. Our dyed eggs are getting brighter and more colorful, trying on Easter dresses turns into dressing room dance performance, early morning Easter baskets are just a little more magical and listening to them talk freely to each other about Jesus' love for them is moments in parenting at its best!
We go pretty low key for the baskets.....chocolate bunny, a couple plastic eggs with 4 jelly beans or m&ms, nail polish, chap stick, bouncy ball and a little purse to match their dresses.
Easter Morning
Warning: Photo's of extreme bed head posted
The Easter Attire
This is the last year the girls will be in the same clothing department, so it was a big deal for me to match them and find the perfect dress to end this season in our life. I LOVE the dresses that we got. I had an image in my mind of something puffy and extravagant when I started my hunt.. but when I set eyes on little white eyelet dresses at Gap Kids I knew my search was over! Josh insisted on the hats as well and I am so glad he did. Adorable!! (I'll save the how to on the little lined purses for another post)
We went to early morning service and stayed for the church egg hunt.
Hannah waits so patiently for the doors to open and the hunt to start.
Hannah was just a tad greedy out on the egg hunting field.
After church we went up to my parents house for Easter dinner. We forgot the camera in the car, so I will paint you a picture of or night..... Fabulous family, fabulous food, fabulous wine..... got the picture?? We also did another egg hunt for the kids, but I was about done with giving them candy so they hunted for puzzle pieces to complete a spring time puzzle.
Happy Easter!!

Mica Mine Hike
Mica Mine Hike has been our favorite hikes with the kids. It is a 2.6 mile hike that shows off a little of the funnest parts of Grand Junction hiking. Hiking through beautiful canyon walls, while following a little creek and ending in a mine with high walls and lots of rock play. OH... and did I mention that the path you are walking on sparkles like glitter from the mine tailings of mica a quartz.
We took Hannah for the first time to Mica Mine when she was 6 months old. She hung out in the Kelty carrier and came out now and again to suck on a piece of sandstone.
We went again when Madalyn was a little over a year and Hannah had just turned three. Hannah being our oldest, we had no idea what to expect from a three year old and we were not sure if 2 1/2 miles was to much for her little legs. Not only did Hannah hike all by herself she climbed every rock in sight. Madalyn being the perfect little angel baby that she was, slept through most of our outing.
This past weekend we went back up to Mica Mine and brought our dear friends the Pollards, with us. Four adults, one 5 year old, two 3 year olds and one 8 month old and everyone did great! Hannah had a blast "rock climbing" on anywhere she could get up on and Madal and Griff hike all by them selves like champs and Ailee... well Ailee was a delight as always!

Junk Part 1 - Flowers Part 2
The first thing I did with my Pile-O-Junk was work with the little polka-dot piece.
I bought it for 10 cents from a woman who said it was a head piece for her daughters dance recital forty years ago. I love when you can reuse things that have a story.
What did I do with it? I did the obvious, glued a pin on it and used it to embellish a cheap t-shirt.
EASY and CHEAP little joy!
Making this flower would have been a very easy thing but I would have never been able to buy the materials for 10 cents. However, I was able to make another one with a piece of felt and yellow blanket binding (that I have no clue why I own) just for fun.
I cut out the size that I wanted my flower to be.
I started on the outer edge to the felt circle and stitched the blanket binding around the edge and every so ofter pleated the binding so that it would lay flat on the felt.
I continued to stitch and pleat spiraling into the center of the circle.
Once I got to the center the flower was to thick for my needle so I just glued the last little bit down. Most of the time this would be when I would stick on a little finishing piece like a button or a bead, but this time I decided not to.
Finally I completed this by gluing another circle of fabric on the back to strengthen it up and hide my awful stitch work.
And Finished!!
I must really have a thing for black and white polka-dots this week.

Sifting Through The Junk
It has been a little while since I have posted. I am trying to find a healthy balance between crafting, blogging, parenting, cooking, cleaning, ect. Truthfully I have been doing much more crafting than I have blogging, so I have some catch up to do.
Two weeks ago (wow I really am behind) my bro, his girl and I went to a flee market in town. Being southwest Colorado it wasn't a true flee market, but the idea was there. Being surrounded by so much junk, it was hard to sift through and find the good junk that could turn into something great! Here are my finds. I spent $12.20 for all of it and I have plans for every bit of this junk that I will of course share.
Stay tuned!

Fabric Flowers part 1 and Annabelle's hat
Having two daughters, fabric flowers is something that I have done a lot with. To be able to take a scrap piece of fabric or ribbon and make a hair clip or head band or cover a stained shirt has been so much fun for all of us. So I thought I would share.
I was asked to make a hat for the prettiest little girl with the most beautiful eyes. Annabelle's hat was just a simple brown knit hat like the one I showed you before and was finished off with a simple folded flower.
To make the flower is very simple, you most likely can figure it out just by looking at it, but I will do a step by step because that is what craft bloggers do..and I love them for that.
1) Cut out 4 circles out of your scrap fabric.
2) Fold each circle two times.
3) Stitch or hot glue (I stitch) each folded piece into a quarter of a round piece of felt all the way around.
4) Once the first four pieces are stitched on, cut out four smaller circles.
5) Fold each of the smaller circles two times the same way you did with the larger circles
6) Stitch (or glue) each of the smaller pieces between each of the already stitched on larger pieces all the way around your flower.
7) Finish by stitching on a button or something pretty in the center of your flower.
